Why don't I see Aspen trees in Philadelphia like in Colordado

I'd like to plant Aspen trees in my yard. Will it thrive in 19066?

Answer

Dear Gardener:  The Aspen you see in Colorado is the Quaking Aspen or Populus tremuloides.   It is a native tree in the high elevations of Colorado--6,000-12,000 feet elevation.    It is hardy in our area (hard in zones 1-8) and should be able to live here.
