Mushroom-looking plants are growing in my front yard.

I have tried digging them up. How do I remove them permanently?

Answer

Mushrooms growing in the lawn are not harmful to the lawn and are in fact indicators of healthy organic matter in the soil. What you see is the fruiting body of a large a large fungus growing below the surface of the lawn. They can be controlled by digging up the organic material or by spreading a high nitrogen fertilizer on the lawn.
