I dug up my banana trees for winter and put them in a large container in a cool room I’m front of bay windows and over head sky lights . My plants leaves are turning yellow , what do I need to do ?
Answer
Your container banana tree should be potted in soil meant for containers.Tropicals like moist soil with good drainage. You don't say which leaves are turning yellow, but if it is the older ones, this is to be expected. Tropical plants often experience location shock when brought in due to the change in light, temperature, humidity. Be sure they aren't in cold drafts. If it is the younger leaves turning yellow, look for indications of insects, woolly aphids, etc. on them and wipe them off with alcohol on a paper towel. Be sure to place saucers underneath the containers to catch excess water after watering and make sure it drains completely. It looks like a nice location for them to spend the winter. In the spring you might want to cut off the offsets, plant them, and increase the amount of banana plants you have! Good luck with the bananas.
