I have a large phlox plant in my garden whose leaves are brown

I water every day and it’s in a fairly sunny spot. Any idea what could be happening to my phlox?

Answer

The leaves may be brown for one of two reasons:  the humidity is very high and when watering you may have wetted the leaves allowing fungus to grow on the leaves and cause the brown, or possibly if you watered when the sun was hot, the leaves may have scorched.  A third but unlikely possibility would be over fertilization, but that usually shows up on the edge of the leaves, not the entire leaf.
