Can a plant that appears to be dead be revived?
I purchased this houseplant many years ago. A few months ago the leaves starting dropping off and all I'm left with now are the leaves you see, which are dead. There is a small point at the top of the plant which I thought maybe was new growth, but it's been there quite a while and has not grown. I was going to discard the plant but since it's been with me such a long time I was wondering if there is anything I can do to encourage new growth? Thank you very much.

I must confess, I have given up on a plant or two and revived them with some tender loving care, however, they did look like there was hope! You have nothing to lose except some time and effort by trying to revive a weak plant. If the branches break easily, the plant is probably not going to revive and will not be worth your effort. If the branches are supple even if defoliated, there may be hope.
